3D Sonic the Hedgehog (Nintendo 3DS) Review By Rudy Lavaux 3 Originally designed as a direct competitor to Nintendo's Mario, as the cooler dude with an attitude, Sonic entered the video game industry with a big bang over twenty years ago, on the SEGA Mega Drive.

I'm thinking about getting the game because I like it but I have some important questions that only owners of the game can answer, Incant find anything on them on the internet. When you get a Game Over, do you start from the beginning of the game like in the original game? Is there a save system in this remake?.What special features does this game have that differ from the original.I already have the remastered version along with Sonic 2 on my iPhone, but the control sucks because iPhone and want to play it on my 3DS. Is this version comparable to the iPhone version and should I even bother getting it?.
The save state makes it absolutely playable for people like me who were never really good enough or dedicated enough to get through platformers like Sonic. The Sonic 1 and 2 3D versions are also superior to the Game Gear versions (available also on the eShop) in terms of visuals (not just because of the awesome 3D, but because the sprites are crisper). I actually looked between the two a couple times, trying to figure out why when both were on sale, that the 3D versions were cheaper. Well worth getting them over the others, no doubt. You can't beat physical controls. Touch screens suck for gaming. I really need to pick up a Kirby game and that one's pretty cheap. I might wait for a bit of a sale, just to save a buck or two since I'm not in a huge rush for a game at the moment, but it's on my list, no doubt. The 2D sidescrolling games all seem to be really nice in 3D.
I think it's because they have a clear depth to portray, unlike other games. You have the front (the playing area) and then the backdrop (the mountains, the sky) so it's easy to separate with the 3D effect. Azure Striker Gunvolt has beautiful visuals thanks to this.
